Brooklands FM Sunday Viewpoint – sifting the kinds of faith in “faith healing”

Susan Thomas, the Christian Science Committee on Publication for Surrey was the guest on “Sunday Viewpoint” on Brooklands FM last week.  She shared her thoughts about a different kind of faith, one that is based on spiritual law and a track record of experience, not on blind hope or resignation to the will of an inscrutable God.

To illustrate her point, Susan shares the experience of her son’s complete healing from an accident which hospital doctors expected to be fatal.

Susan Thomas gave a very clearly worded and spoken contribution to Sunday Viewpoint on the subject of faith expanded to spiritual understanding resulting in healing. Her account of the remarkable recovery of her son from a near-fatal accident through the family’s prayerful insistence that he could only be subject to God’s laws of life and love was inspiring. It was good, too, to hear of the tender care given by the hospital staff and how they acknowledged that he did not need medical treatment but was healed through Christian Science. I can also testify how this system of provable Christianly scientific laws is of the utmost benefit in dealing with tough family situations. Times of rather “woolly” faith in God and clinging on for dear life to a general hope that all would turn out OK in the end, have been exchanged for a spiritual understanding that God is “a very present help in trouble”, as it says in the Bible. I found that a careful and thoughtful reading of various passages in the Bible and in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, gave me inspiration and an anchor of comfort. Solutions and healings soon followed.
